1. Flimsy Follow-Up
Have you promised to take care of a problem and failed to do it? Are you getting emails that take you days to return? Have you received messages you fail to address? All these shortcomings will suck away at what we at COSTA IMC call the “Trust Bucket.” Follow-up with your clients, don’t play hide and seek with them.

2. Failure to Understand their Needs
Talk less, listen more. Your clients live with their brands and know things about them that you don’t. Stop underestimating what you can learn from listening to their needs and concerns.


3. Fluffy Knowledge
Do you have an in-depth knowledge of what you’re selling? Get informed because failure to do so will show at the point of sale. Anticipate potential questions your clients will have and keep the answers in your back pocket. People like knowing they count on experts, not amateurs.


4. False Talk/Double Talk
Don’t just tell your clients what they want to hear—the ‘truth’ is known to swim to the top like oil in water. Misleading your clients can lead to the following: skeptical clients who second-guess your results and don’t trust you and eventually drop you.
